A large commercial client from Blackburn got in touch with us to discuss a problem they had with fuel thefts from their vehicles. The trucks were in a secure compound in the Blackburn area so the thefts had to be by staff. Access was given to our lead investigator and he made a search of the yard and vehicles.
It wasn’t long before our Blackburn private detective uncovered siphoning equipment. This gave us a suspect on the theft as each driver had a regular vehicle. An observation point was set up by our surveillance specialist .
It took 2 days before we started getting evidence, but when we did it came in good. Every day before his shift, the driver would siphon a small amount of diesel from the vehicle alongside his, whilst the mate acted as a lookout.
After a number of days gathering evidence our detective assisted the company in confronting and questioning the individuals.
The end result was the 2 lost their jobs and the matter was passed onto the police.
