Our offices were contacted by a solicitor client from Bolton. They were trying to locate a beneficiary of an estate. Unfortunately the target had a drug addiction and led a somewhat erratic lifestyle. This case was handed to our Bolton based Process server.

When serving legal documents we often come up against evasive people who would rather not be found, and as such felt our process server had the right skills to bring a quick conclusion to the enquiry.

We did do a run through our databases, but as expected with someone of our targets lifestyle choice, the last known address was over ten years old.

After a few days of trawling the less pleasant areas of Bolton our process server returned with information that our target was actually serving a custodial sentence.

Contact was made with the prisoner location service who got back to us a month later. Our private detectives in Bolton arranged a legal visit with the target and assisted with the paperwork to liquidate the estate.

This case highlights the importance of making a will as the family of the deceased were insistent the deceased didn’t want the estate to go to the person it did. Unfortunately without a will it went to the next of kin, despite the fact he had no contact with the deceased for over 30 years!
